It’s not just surviving, it’s truly thriving~

This season is one of my favorites; from the leaves changing color to the twinkling Christmas lights on the houses, there's definitely something magical. It's a time for friends, family, traditions, and celebrations, where we cherish the gifts each brings our way. However, as much as I love this time of year, I also acknowledge the hint of sadness it can bring, with those empty chairs at the table reminding us of loved ones who are no longer with us and the void that leaves in our hearts.

Years ago, this season filled me with dread. Living with an eating disorder took away my ability to be present with my loved ones, my focus instead on the constant thoughts of how I would get through the day and the table filled with food that felt like my worst nightmare. My ability to see that the day wasn't really about food was diminished, with all my energy poured into a vessel that was already broken and could never hold all the irrational and wasted thoughts I thought were important.

Recovery, or as I now see it, thriving... Well, that's a gift that lets you focus on the true joy of any occasion and recognize where the real beauty and importance lie. Holidays would mean nothing without the gift of loved ones and the chance to share love, laughter, and memories around the table.

Life is not meant to be something we merely survive. Life is about thriving and taking that zest for life and soaring. That doesn't mean the journey will always be smooth sailing AND, if we allow ourselves to celebrate even the smallest steps, we find they truly lead us to a place filled with so much peace that we wonder why it took us so long to get there!

Wherever you are on your journey, whether stuck in 'survival mode' or nearing the bright joy of thriving, know you don't have to do it alone. Invite someone into your world, even if it's just a single text or a 5-minute phone call, for these are the things that will help you continue moving forward and find who you were meant to be in this journey of life.

Here's to THIS day; may you thrive and find joy in all it has to offer.

Shine bright, my friends!
